Lamb Hass Avocado

The Lamb is a wonderful avocado, rich and creamy with high oil content and a small pit. It is one of the many fine avocados produced by the University of California Riverside avocado breeding program and could be called a great-grandchild of the Hass. It is similar to its forebear in appearance and flavor but perhaps a bit broader in the shoulders and larger too. On the Central Coast of California the Lamb bears heavily and more consistently than the Hass, and is a huge favorite here. We especially like its habit of setting fruit in clusters, like giant grapes.

The tree is medium-large and vigorous and is a type A tree. In our area of Central California, it is mature in the early fall, but will hang on the tree for 6 months.
