Hass Avocado

Hass avocado has been the leading avocado in the United States since the early seventies. It was originally planted as a seed in 1926, with the intention of it serving as a rootstock for a Fuerte graft, but the scion kept dying, and the seedling eventually came into flower, fruited, and proved to be so good, the Hass family kept it and shared it around. The California Avocado Society recognized it as a variety with potential in 1932. It was patented in 1935, and began climbing the ladder to unseat Fuerte in the early 70’s as the biggest selling avocado.

Being a dominant commodity is not normally a good reason to plant anything, but the Hass is not just a marketing fad. So good in so many ways, even after 100 years, it’s still an indispensable avocado in any collection. Prolific, resilient, easy peeling, small seeded, fatty, nutty and rich in flavor, the Hass is held in high esteem for good reason.

In our own yard, one mile from the ocean, Hass has been an inconsistent producer. We believe that our tree would prefer more heat during flowering.
Hass is an A type avocado and in warm areas produces on a biannual schedule.

We will begin selling trees for the season in spring 2026; to reserve a tree contact us through the order form and we will add you to our waiting list.

Trees are approximately 2.5 to 3 feet tall (measured from the top of the root ball) and sell for $50 each cash, check or Venmo/Zelle, or by credit card or PayPal with an additional 3% convenience fee.
All trees are sold in a 5″x12″tree pot.
